Robin N. Nickens

Educational Director
FOCH Dumont Avenue Center

My mission is to provide an educational program that fulfills all aspects of the New York State goals and standards, enables our children to maximize their full potential and supports our families in their role as primary teachers, caregivers and advocates in their children’s lives.”

Robin Nickens is the Educational Director at our newest Friends of Crown Heights Center, located at 411 Dumont Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. Ms. Nickens is a career specialist in the field of Early Childhood Education who had previously served with distinction as Director of our Liberty Avenue program in the East New York community.

After receiving her BBA in Marketing Management with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York, Ms. Nickens began her professional journey as an educator by first working with children in our After-school program in 1985. She later switched to our pre-school program, working as a group teacher with children ages 2 – 5, while simultaneously pursuing a graduate degree in the field. Upon graduating with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from City College of the City University of New York, Ms. Nickens was promoted to Assistant Director in 1996. Her talents and leadership as an Assistant Director proved invaluable in facilitating a close and mutually enriching relationship with teachers, staff and families, leading to her subsequent appointment as Educational Director in 2001.

In addition to her many professional and academic qualifications in Early Childhood Education, Ms. Nickens also holds the Permanent Public School State Certification from the New York State Department of Education.
